FAQs

What types of therapy do I provide?

Postpartum and Relationship Therapy provides individual, couples, and mother and child dyadic counseling, utilizing EMDR, Emotion Focused Therapy, and DBT mindfulness therapy. I work alongside each client to equip each with tools to navigate life’s transitions.

How long does therapy take?

This is often the first question my client or my client’s partner or spouse wants to have answered. The longevity of treatment varies and is most dependent on the history or length of the stated problem, the age of onset, personal support systems in place and client’s desire for change. I see most of my pre-marriage clients for six to eight sessions, postpartum clients usually 12-16 sessions, and marriage counseling clients eight to 12 sessions. During our first session together, we will assess time predicted and then design a personalized treatment plan describing your specific goals for treatment and the tools necessary for meeting your goals.

Can I provide online counseling?

I can provide online counseling referred to as Telehealth for clients that are unable to come in to the office.

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?

Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

That is a good question. Professional counseling differs from all other relationships. I will give you the space you need to share your story in a nonjudgemental place and equip you with tools and resources to overcome your struggles.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, the experience differs depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success.
